Our volunteers make our work at Methow Recycles possible!
We have a volunteer role for everyone!
Methow Recycles would not exist without our wonderful volunteers, and we are always looking to welcome more folks into our volunteer family!
Here are some ways you can get involved:
-
You are… a recycling lover who loves to sort and make sure everything goes in the right place. You also enjoy chatting with community members, saying hi to the dogs and kids in the back seat, and generally helping out.
The role: Help customers sort their self-hauled recycling into the correct bins. Answer basic customer questions about recycling and sorting.
Shifts: Two hour shifts on Thursdays and Saturdays, 10am - 4pm.
-
You are…an organizer at heart with an eye for detail. You love searching for obscure treasures, and you see opportunity for reuse all around you. You are passionate about keeping materials out of the landfill and promoting reuse!
The role: Help us intake and sort donations to the ReMake Center, and help customers find unique items for reuse.
Shifts: Two hour shifts on Wednesdays 11am - 3pm, or Thursdays and Saturdays, 10am - 4pm.
-
You are…a tool lover, and you like to work with your hands. You love a tool that is sharp, lubricated, rust-free, and ready to go. You enjoy taking care of tools, working on projects, and helping others do the same.
The role: Organize and maintain over 500 tools in our Share Library, and help connect folks with the right tool for their project needs.
Shifts: Two hour shifts Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 10am - 4pm.
-
You are…a skilled fixer, mender, sharpener, or crafter and you want to offer your skills to your community to help repair and keep items out of the landfill while preserving precious things!
The role: Utilize your repair skills to fix items for our community at our monthly Repair Cafe.
Shifts: Third Saturday of the month 10am - 12pm (setup at 9:30) January through November. Occasional pop-up Cafes in addition!
-
You are…someone who likes to put on gloves and do some good ol’ manual labor. You look at a shovel and say “bring it on.”
The role: Help us bale our sorted commodities. You’ll work hand-in-hand with our trusty baler, Ramona, as you shovel items into the pit and pick out contaminants.
Shifts: 1-2 hour shifts during the busy season (May - September) on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Give us a call at (509) 997-0520 or email us at info@methowrecycles.org if you’re interested and we’ll set up a time.
